Tell me if this sounds familiar…
You’ve finally reached the point where it’s time to improvise a solo on guitar, you’ve learned the minor pentatonic scale and a handful of pentatonic licks, all your problems have been solved, right?
This is your first rude awakening, you quickly realize you only know a scale and some basic licks but still have no grasp on how to truly improvise.
Now it comes time to jam with somebody or sit in with a band…
This is where things can get ugly quick! Out of desperation, you reach for memorized licks you learned from some minor blues song, but it still doesn’t sound right…
Why isn’t this working?
“Once I learn the scale and some licks, this is supposed to be easy!”
I was exactly where you were until I discovered a specific method that took me from playing other guitarist’s minor pentatonic licks , to creating my own melodic solos with ease.
And the great part is, there is no theory required, and you can learn it in just 3 quick steps.
I’ve played guitar since I was a kid, about 30 years actually (no old jokes, I’m middle aged!), and I’ve been teaching guitar for over 20 years. I spent years researching, testing, and practicing every guitar method under the sun!
I’ve had the good fortune of having hundreds of thousands of students. My videos have been viewed millions of times on YouTube. The great part about that is, I get to see what really works and causes breakthroughs for all types of players...
This gives me the unique position to see what really works for beginners and experts alike.
I’ve helped guys like Adam Slack from the Struts…
I’ve had guys like Brad Paisley use my videos to quickly learn a solo before a major concert…
Someone requested Little Moments tonight, so I had to learn the solo again. Thanks for the lesson @Papastache102 pic.twitter.com/RelYSz4Udm

After 20 years of playing and still not being happy with my own playing I decided to go back to square one! I narrowed it down to just one scale..
95% of the iconic solos we hear all use the pentatonic scale so I figured that was the place to start.
So, I learned hundreds of solos and countless pentatonic licks, the problem was I ended up sounding like someone else and I still wasn’t getting the results I was looking for.
Lucky for me, I had access to some of the top session and touring guitar players in the world, so I asked them what their secret was.
I spoke with some incredible session guitar players like Tim Pierce, Rob McNelley, and Kenny Greenberg, to learn how they create record ready guitar parts on the spot when the pressures on.
Guys that most people don’t even have access to…
So, I know what you’re thinking, “Great I have to go learn tons of scales and a bunch of music theory…”
Not so fast...
Believe it or not, I barely know any music theory and here’s a little secret, a lot of the pros don’t know music theory either, but you didn’t hear that from me!
However, they all told me the same thing, “Learn to see chords all over the neck.”
This left me thinking I would have to spend hours and hours memorizing chord inversions all over the neck… And by the way, how does that help me with my solos?
Then came the backstage encounter with legendary shredder Guthrie Govan and I asked the him “how on earth can you solo the way you do, how can you play all of these different styles so well he told me the exact same thing, “Learn your chords all over the neck”... Great here we go again!
But this lesson wasn’t over yet…so i asked him what is the easiest way to do it?
Guthrie smiled and let me in on a “little” shortcut that lead to the greatest discovery I’ve ever made with guitar…
And this was learning the CAGED system, a brilliant way of easily seeing chords all over the neck.
So, I immediately went home and got online to research the CAGED system and all it took was 2 minutes to realize Guthrie had given me the biggest key to unlocking melodic soloing.
Then, I wondered, “What would happen if I used the CAGED system within the pentatonic scale?”
That way I could easily, and quickly, find the right notes to hit when improvising over a chord progression.
So, I applied it to ol’ faithful, a 1-4-5 minor blues progression. This time I concentrated on seeing the chords within the scale and this is where everything changed in an instant!
That’s when everything the session guys told me clicked, I thought to myself “now I get it”.
I was so stoked at this discovery that I couldn’t resist sharing my newfound approach with the world , so I grabbed my camera, recorded a video, and uploaded it to YouTube to see if it would work for other guitar players as well...
Then it happened…
4 years and over 2.2 million views later, that video is still helping people.
This lead to numerous other related videos and due to the amount of feedback I was receiving, I quickly realized what people, just like you, needed and wanted, further refining my teaching process.
“I know my pentatonics all over the neck but I didn’t know about transferring chord shapes with that mindset. You just blew my mind!” -John Kidd
“Stumbling upon Brett Papa was the absolute best thing to ever happen to my guitar playing.
He takes you to the next level.... Better yet, his charisma is out of this world and having him on your tv or monitor is like having a guest in your home. There’s something in his approach and in his enthusiasm for the instrument that inspires like no other that I’d ever seen. Don’t wait to invest your time and money into these lessons. They will change you forever.” -Mickey Edwards
That is exactly why I’ve condensed my years of learning and experience with the minor pentatonic scale into a course, just for you...
Now, we can’t all be Jimi or Eddie, but I do believe everyone can improve their skills by focusing on learning a few key ideas…
Numerous people found the videos I created easy to follow and very valuable:
There are many, multiple places on the interwebs you can go for guitar instruction, but only Brett Papa is going to give you incredible value for your money. And he's just a great, all-around person, so there's that, which is nice, too. -William Halley
You’re probably thinking, “I’ve seen SO MANY courses that promise to make me a better improviser , what’s the difference?”
Most other courses are lick based teaching you tons of new licks, and they may even show you licks to play over certain chords. The difference is, they don’t show you why those licks work and how to fuse scales and chords together.
This fusion of chords and scales is the secret to being able to improvise well anywhere on the neck.
One of my students, Tom, had this to say:
“I have been playing blues rhythm guitar and blues harp for over 55 years. Like many other folks I am self taught and I have never progressed beyond rhythm guitar playing, even though I spent years trying to learn lead guitar. I have spent $100’s on courses where instructors taught their form of various methods. I literally spent years trying to learn how to play lead guitar. I did have some marginal success but could never just solo on my own. Up to this point there was always key elements that were missing.
So, Tom decided to make a change…
“Right away he (Brett) was introducing concepts I had never been exposed to that seemed to make a lot of sense to me. I will say the world of music started opening up to me like I have never viewed it before! I am still working on the the course, but I am also taking my time. I am having fun and making verifiable progress. I believe Brett Papa enjoys what he does and it comes across in his videos and his lessons. If you are at a sticking point or wanting to learn lead guitar I highly recommend Brett Papa’s courses.
Tom is a shining example of someone who was a good guitar player, but needed that extra little boost to get to the next level....
BUY TODAY and receive Stache of Licks - Minor Pentatonic FREE. Over 6 hours and 40 minutes! Jam track and tabs included.
First off, this course is huge!
When I finished editing it I realized it was over 10 hours in length… That’s well over 600 MINUTES of how to create your own licks.
I’ve broken down the course into 16 modules.
MODULE 1-5
We start by taking each of the minor pentatonic positions and learn how to create licks with chord tones in mind.
This is where the fusion of pentatonic scale and the CAGED system comes into play. This combination of scale and the CAGED system allows to learn how play all of the pentatonic shapes as well as see your chords all over the neck aka improvising magic!
You will learn all 5 licks in each position giving you a total of 25 licks
COMBINING POSITIONS
All real world solos move around on the neck. You will rarely find yourself just playing in one spot. The combo module gives 5 more examples on how to connect the pentatonic positions together. I’ll give you common examples and patterns used in many of the greatest solos ever recorded.
Now it is time to apply this method over different chord progressions. This is where you will finally grasp how amazing this approach to improvising is.
Once you are able to apply the CAGED system to each of the chords in your progression, no matter where you are at on the neck, you will be able to spot the chord tones of the chord you are playing over.
When you use these chord tones or target notes as the foundation of your phrases, you will be blown away by how much more melodic your solos will be.
This is what all great improvisers are able to do, take their bag of licks and modify them to fit over any progression that they are playing over.
Now your scales are like a road map and the target notes become the destination.
I have created 5 professionally recorded jam tracks in various keys for you to solo over. Each track contains two different progressions, a verse and a chorus.
I’ve created 3 example solos for both the verse and choruses of each jam track. That’s 30 solos in all! Each solo containing numerous lick ideas within them. You will literally have hundreds of different ideas you can use to create melodic solos by the time you are done.
This is where you will get a deep dive into using this system. We will take each chord in each progression and learn to design melodic phrases around them. Not only that but now we add all of the other ingredients used to make solos really stand out.
You will get a crash course in how use techniques like bending, vibrato, timed vibrato, adding the blues note and other chord tones NOT in the pentatonic scale, chromatic licks, pick attack, and dynamics. These tools give your solos the sound and feel that the pros have.
The combination of these things are how you get solos to emotionally connect with and draw in the listener.
Imagine a Stevie Ray Vaughan or Pink Floyd solo with no bending or vibrato!
I’m tired of people feeling they don’t have enough information to become the musician they’ve always dreamt of becoming. A large part of what I do is instill confidence in my students, that’s what’s truly fulfilling to me as an instructor.
It’s time to discover the true secrets of the minor pentatonic scale and take one giant leap from mystified to knowing.
By taking your current skill level and applying a few little known techniques, I will supercharge your learning curve, taking your guitar skills to the next level.

This course is different in that it is a very focused, no fluff added, course to get you soloing like a boss in no time! No more wasting time online trying to piece a bunch of concepts together.
Sure, it teaches you a ton of minor pentatonic licks in each position, but what's different is that I show you how to create licks that will work over any progression you play over.
By learning my 3 step process, you’ll easily remove all of the guesswork from improvising killer melodic solos. When you know your scale, where the chord tones are in that scale, and how to create licks for the song’s progression, it gives you two things: confidence in the notes you are hitting, making your solos sound more professional, and the freedom to create. This freedom allows you to consistently come up with new and fresh ideas.
A huge part of increasing your improvisational skills is playing over different chord progressions. I’ve created 5 professionally recorded jam tracks of various styles and keys, letting you apply your new skills directly over them.
There are over 30 complete solos included in this course, giving you a deep dive in understanding how to use the minor pentatonic scale over all types of chord progressions.
A large part of the course focuses on developing feel in your playing. It’s not enough just to learn how to phrase melodically, those phrases need to emotionally connect with the listener to be effective.
Each solo is meticulously broken down to hammer in the concept of how to create melodic licks that work over each chord in the progression.
This system is extremely focused, it is no joke. My system will have you melodically improvising, on your own, in no time.
In person lessons can be great, however it’s very easy to get sidetracked and lose focus on the original intent of getting lessons. Sometimes it’s more talk than lessons…
Who wants to spend their money to chit chat anyways? Don’t get me wrong I loved getting to know my instructors too I just didn’t want to pay for it!
And here’s the thing...
If you’re lucky, you’ll remember maybe half of what you learned during the lesson, what good does that do you? The old learn, forget half, and repeat model, over and over!
I’ve built in a solution within this course to solve that issue.
I’m giving you:
And don’t forget… All of this costs you less than $8.00 per hour…
Compare that price to a typical $50/ hour lesson…
You do the math and make your own decision.
No, unfortunately it does not.
But, I have created level 1 products which I recommend all beginners start with. Once you’ve taken those, level 2 will be ready and waiting for you!
What if I told you I could take you from being a guitar player with killer licks and create a musician who can play to any song, making everyone in the band happier too? That sounds like a win-win for everyone.
That’s what you’ll get from this course.
I was in the exact same boat as you before I discovered this method. After practicing with it, I was shocked at how much better of a player I had become simply by applying what I learned.
Absolutely! Those of us who “play for fun” are what keep great music alive. Just think, if no one continued to play music from the greats, or create new stuff, where would we be? That being said, it’s even more fun to know what you are doing right?
This course is made up of 16 modules, comprising over 10.5 hours! Obviously, this does not count your practice time, which is where you are guaranteed to get results, if you practice the concepts taught here.
