In today's guitar lesson Ryan Wariner teaches you how to play hard rock and blues licks with attitude! If you are a fan of the way Van Halen, Warren Demartini, Nuno Bettencourt, and all the other 80's Hard Rock guys blasted out terrifying phrases from their screaming 412 cabs then you are going to love today's lesson!
This lesson is from early March but due to the fact there were some technical difficulties it took a while to get it out. I remedied them as best as I could and decided to let it fly. There is too much awesome stuff in this one for you all not to see! Make sure you check the whole thing out because there is killer stuff in here from start to finish.
One of the things I like most about Ryan's playing isn't just that he has a staggering level of technique but more than that is his feel! All the subtle nuances of great players can so often be overlooked because of the totality of the music behind the player. Without hearing the guitar by itself or really listening and studying what a player is doing you might miss the little things that make their playing so memorable.
How they slide into a note, play around the beat, use chromatic lines in their phrasing, semitone bends, holding notes and before adding vibrato, using upstrokes on bends to get a different attack on the note, picking dynamics, interval choice and a myriad of other things all add up to give great guitarists their seasoned feel! It's these things that make great players stand out among other guitarists.
In this video, we take a look into all these techniques and show you creative ways to not only add excitement but attitude into your playing! Make sure to subscribe to Ryan's Instagram feed below! It is full of amazing clips and wicked tones!
